The Process:
1. The Silk Original is created -
The originals that were used to create these Silk Reproductions are not available for purchase. Mandy Adendorff has combined her skills in watercolor painting with the ancient art of Silk Painting to create these unusual and breathtaking art pieces.
Pure, untreated silk is first stretched and then painted using fine French and acrylic inks. The silk is very porous and allows for color to flow spontaneously. Metallic paints and a technique called ‘over glazing’ are used to control some of the movement of the color and also create beautiful heavy textures over the smooth silk.
2. The Silk Reproduction is made -
Adendorff Silk reproductions are created by professional color experts to ensure precise color matching. The images are printed on 100% silk using archival inks for heirloom quality for you and your family to enjoy for years to come.
It is amazing how vibrant and close to the original these reproductions come out.
3. Post Printing Process -
After printing, the silk is over painted in certain areas by Mandy Adendorff with a textured metallic paint. Scripture and embellishments are beautifully created by hand on each silk as Mandy leaves her own mark on each individual silk piece. This method produces one of a kind silk paintings with beautiful raised textures juxtaposed against the smooth silk without the price ticket of an original silk piece. Mandy has chosen to use soft, subtle variations of gold to ensure harmony between image and words. The words become part of the art and overall visual experience. Words are not meant to stand out like a poster but weave themselves into the image.
Silk Reproductions are revolutionary as they have the same quality and look of the original silk painting. Textures are the same real paint textures due to the fact that they are created on exactly the same silk as the original and have the same type of hand over-painting with the same metallic paint used on the originals. Hand painting by Mandy also increases the value to these art pieces.
4. The Frame –
How do you find a frame worthy of such magnificent art pieces? We think we have, each Silk is framed with beautiful four
inch wide ornate frames. After being hand stretched on Archival board each Silk is framed without glass to maximize the beautiful textures – truly something extraordinary.
